The Legacy of a Hero.

Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC

The 2027 Mukam Marathon honours Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC, the sole recipient of the Param Vir Chakra from the Indian Air Force.

“In Srinagar during the 1971 War, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon defended the airfield single-handedly against six Pakistani Sabre jets in his Folland Gnat. His sublime heroism, supreme quality of leadership, and complete disregard for personal safety remain in the highest traditions of the IAF.”

This marathon embodies the speed, endurance, and supersonic spirit of our air warriors, inspiring citizens to push boundaries and run for nationwide unity.

Air Vice Marshal Bhupendra Kumar Bishnoi, VrC & Bar

A decorated fighter pilot, combat leader and master aviator, Air Vice Marshal B. K. Bishnoi served with distinction in the 1965 and 1971 wars. His Vir Chakra and Bar recognise gallantry on two separate occasions.

From Hunter operations in 1965 to leading No. 28 Squadron’s MiG-21 missions in 1971, he combined courage under fire with precision, judgement and care for those he led.

The 2027 edition honours a life of service, professional excellence and leadership that continues to inspire the next generation.

PREVIOUS EDITION · 15 FEBRUARY 2026

A life devoted to the wild.

Radheshyam Pemani Bishnoi

The previous edition was dedicated to Radheshyam Bishnoi of Dholiya, Rajasthan—wildlife rescuer, conservationist and a tireless protector of the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard, the Godawan.

Remembered as the “Godawan Man of India”, he turned compassion into action through wildlife rescue, habitat protection and conservation awareness.

He received the Sanctuary Young Naturalist Award in 2021. He died on 24 May 2025 while travelling to investigate a reported poaching incident. His courage and selfless service continue to inspire us.

One planet.
Shared survival.

The koalas of Australia

Mukam Marathon’s first edition, held on 22 February 2020, was dedicated to the koalas affected by Australia’s devastating 2019–2020 bushfires.

As fires swept through forests, wildlife lost shelter, food and habitat. The koala became a reminder that the future of every species is tied to the places we protect.

Their resilience carries our founding message: compassion has no borders, and every stride can stand for a more caring relationship with nature.
